The World Population Day is an annual event celebrated around the world every 11th of July. The event helps to draw the world's attention to recognize population as an international concern. This year, the World Population Day focuses on a global concern—the urgent need for quality family planning information and services. It also seeks to draw the people’s attention to the effect of population on the multifarious aspects of human life.

This year, the United Nations Country Team and its various government and sector partners join hands in celebrating this event through various activities that will enjoin stakeholders to continue their commitment to champion people’s right to reproductive health services and information. These activities aim to help educate, motivate action and draw public attention to the lack of complete, available and quality family planning services and information and its impact on the lives of affected individuals, couples, families and communities.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) calls for entries to the 1st UNFPA World Population Day Essay Writing Contest.
